Banks start receiving Hajj applications from today

ISLAMABAD: The designated branches of banks will start receiving Hajj applications from Monday (today), according to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.

A spokesman for the ministry told the state-run radio that Hajj applications will be received from intending pilgrims till 24th of this month at thirteen designated bank branches across Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir.

He said that balloting for successful applicants will be held on 26th of this month.

He said that successful applicants will be informed via SMS and general mail, while balloting results will also be available on the website of the ministry.

The spokesperson said that a total of  179,210 Pakistanis will be able to perform Hajj this year. This will include 120,000 pilgrims under government scheme, while 59,210 will be taken under private Hajj scheme.

To a question, he said Hajj package for north region will be 280,000 while it will be 270,000 for south region.

The spokesperson said that this time a quota of 10,000 has been fixed for those who have been applying for the Hajj for last three years, but remained unsuccessful.
