KARACHI: Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) has completed the initial investigation report of the track destruction at Ghaghar railway crossing here in Karachi on Wednesday, ARY News reports.
The case of the incident was filed against unknown persons in the Steel Town Police Station after sixteen hours of the incident.
According to the report, the explosion was carried out by a homemade bomb via remote control. It further mentioned that four kilograms of explosives were used to carry out the attack, whilst no nut bolts or ball bearings were found from the scene.
A 2.5 feet deep and 10 ft long pit was created due to the blast where 2.5 ft of railway track was separated.
Seven bogies of Shalimar Express were derailed after the explosion in which a girl was killed while 35 other people were injured.
The explosion was heard in the far flung areas of the city.
Railway traffic is being severely affected after the incident. Railways administration has stated that the schedule of the trains will remain disturbed till the maintenance work is complete.
