Benazir’s 6th death anniversary being observed today

LARKANA: The sixth death anniversary of former Prime Minister and Chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Benazir Bhutto is being observed today, ARY News reports.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, son of Benazir Bhutto and Chairman of PPP, and Asif Ali Zardari, husband and former President of Pakistan and PPP Chairman, will address the crowd on the occasion.

Strict security arrangements have been made at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh for the anniversary. 6000 police officers, Rangers officials and Special Commandos will be on duty. The gathering place has been sealed whereas the crowd will be allowed to enter after being checked at walk through gates.

CCTV cameras have also been placed to monitor the situation.

Quran Khwani will be held at 9 am. The ceremony will officially start at 2 pm whereas Asif Ali Zardari will distribute moorings on the occasion. Poems will be recited in the honour of the late Prime Minister.

All provincial presidents of PPP along with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asif Ali Zardari and central representatives of the party will address the crowd whereas a minute of silence will also be observed at 5.20 pm.

Prayers will be held for the people that were killed on 27th Dec, 2007 at Liaquat Bagh, where Benazir Bhutto gave her last speech.

Sindh Government has announced a public holiday across the province today.
