‘Better wage protesters’ baton charged in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Police baton charged the government employees, who were heading towards red zone in protest, seeking raise in their wages, ARY News reported Wednesday.

Government teachers and clerk association employees protest today in Islamabad to voice their demand for increase in salaries.

The rally turned violent when the protesters attempted to move red zone through Poll Clinic area. Police fired rubber bullets and resorted to baton charge.

The protesters also carried stones and pelted at police in rage. At least 16 protesters were injured in clash with police.

Police also detained several protesting employees during the demonstration.
