Bhaag Milkha Bhaag runs ahead in IIFA Awards

FLORIDA: Bollywood film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag dominated the 15th IIFA Awards in Florida, ARY NEws reports.

IIFA Awards, which are considered as the Oscars for Bollywood, started with a comic skit between actors Shahid Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar.

Farhan Akhtar won the award for "Best Actor" for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag  whereas Deepika Padukone bagged the award for "Best Actress" for Chennai Express.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag also won the award for "Best Film".

Veteran actor Shatruganh Sinha was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The award for "Best Actor in a Supporting Role" went to Aditya Roy Kapoor for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani whereas Divya Dutta won the award for "Best Actress in a Supporting Role" for her performance in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor won the award for "Best Performance in a Negative Role" for Aurangzeb whereas Arshad Warsi was given the award for "Best Performance in a Comic Role" for Jolly LLB.

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra won the award for "Best Director" for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Prasoon Joshi won the award for "Best Story" for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

Meanwhile Aashiqui 2 swept the Musical awards. Shreya Ghoshal won the award for "Best Female Playback Singer" for the song Sunn Raha Hai for the film Aashiqui 2 whereas Ankit Tiwari bagged the award for "Best Male Playback Singer" for the song Sunn Raha Hai from Aashiqui 2. Mithoon Sharma, Ankit Tiwari and Jeet Ganguly won the award for Best Music Direction whereas Mithoon Sharma also won the award for "Best Lyrics" for the song Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2.  

Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan and Sonkashi Sinha won the hearts of the audience with their mesmerising performances in the function.
