Uttar Pradesh, India: A brawl broke out between two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmakers on Wednesday during a party meeting here at Sant Kabir Nagar, ARY News reported.

The embarrassing act reportedly took place over a conflict on the placement of names on a foundation stone of a project during a meeting of the District Action Plan Committee at the Sant Kabir Nagar Collectorate where various government officials were present.

In the footage, the two lawmakers can be seen trading barbs before MP Sharad Tripathi takes off his shoe and starts hitting MLA Rakesh Singh Baghel. In response, Singh also got up and started hitting the senior lawmaker. Others, including cops, kept trying to calm things down but to no avail.

M.N Pandey, President of BJP Uttar Pradesh took notice of the ugly incident and said both had been summoned to Lucknow at party’s state headquarters where they will be asked to explain themselves.

Later, Singh and his supporters protested outside the office of District Magistrate and demanded the arrest of Tripathi.

Taking a jibe at its archrival BJP, Congress later in the evening posted the video of the same incident, albeit with a caption that criticized the BJP lawmakers in a veiled manner.

“Disclaimer: This act has been performed by experts, please do not attempt this on anyone. #MeraBootSabseMazboot”, tweeted Congress through its official account.
