‘Blackmailer’ arrested in Sindh University student suicide case

HYDERABAD: Police have arrested a former varsity student in the case pertaining to the death of Sindh University student Naila Rind, ARY News reported.

DIG Hyderabad Khadim Hussain Rind told media on Friday that the suspect Anees Khaskheli used to blackmail the female student who committed suicide in the varsity’s Marvi hostel on January 2.

The police officer maintained that a murder case will be registered against Khaskheli for this crime falls in the category of Qatl Shibh-i-Amd as the victim was mentally exploited to the extent that she took her life.

Law enforcers maintained that the arrest was made after Naila Rind’s cell phone record stated that she talked to Mr Khaskheli for about 24 minutes before hanging herself in the hostel room. Khaskheli was reportedly also blackmailing other girls of the university.

On January 2, a position-holder student of the varsity, Naila Rind’s body was found hanging from Marvi hostel room’s ceiling fan.  Sindh police chief, AD Khawaja had set up a committee to launch a probe into the incident under the leadership of DIG Hyderabad.
