According to sources, the sound of the blast was extremely loud and could be heard till faraway places. 11 people were confirmed dead and 25 injured as a result of the blast. Casualties could mount due to the blast since Kharkhano checkpost is located in a crowded place. Most of the people in the area were involved in buying and selling of items. Sources also revealed a large number of security forces were also deployed in the area. Karkhano check-post lies on the Peshawar-Khyber Agency border, hence it is usually a crowded place.
Among those who had died as a result of the blast, also included local journalist Mahboob Khan Afridi. A security officer revealed the blast occurred after a person parked a motorcycle near the checkpost. The Bomb Disposal Unit also confirmed 10-14 kilograms explosive material was used in the blast.
The nearest medical facility to the site of the blast is Hayatabad Medical Complex. According to sources and reports, the injured were being shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex for treatment. Security forces have surrounded the area. It was also reported that multiple cars caught fire due to the blast.
