ISLAMABAD: The body of a senior officer of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Police, Tahir Dawar, who went missing in Islamabad, was handed over to the officials of Pakistani Consulate in Jalalabad on Wednesday, sources said.

The officials of the Pakistani consulate in Afghanistan’s Jalalabad have received the body of the slain cop, Tahir Dawar.

“The body to be transported to Torkham border in a while”, said sources apprised of the development.

Yesterday, it was reported by ARY News, citing family sources, Tahir Dawar, the disappeared officer of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Police, had been killed in Afghanistan.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural Peshawar, Tahir Khan Dawar, went missing in Islamabad on October 26.

Responding to a question about the reported murder of the police officer, State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi yesterday had refused to talk about it as the matter was of sensitive nature.

Referring to pictures reportedly of the disappeared police officer’s body circulating on social media, the minister had said doctored pictures and fake reports were being spread these days.

Earlier, the police officer’s brother had said the victim was posted in Peshawar and he took leave from his work and left for Islamabad for some personal matters.

He said the family lost contact with the police officer since then, therefore, they suspected that he was kidnapped. He said Tahir’s spouse right away informed the police after she could not contact him.
