1. Kajol
Kajol was initially offered a role in Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s super-hit film 3 Idiots which she said no to. The role then went to Kareena Kapoor Khan, who successfully essayed the role on-screen and went on to receive critical appreciation for her performance. 3 Idiots also went on to become one of the highest grossing films of all time.
2. Hrithik Roshan
Hrithik Roshan has had plenty of hits to his credit ever since he made his way into Bollywood. However, one movie that he said no to was none other than Dil Chahta Hai, which went on to become one of the most talked-about movies of Indian cinema. Dil Chahta Hai is a cult movie and continues to be a fan-favourite even today.
3. Kareena Kapoor
Kareena Kapoor Khan might have made the smarter choice as compared to Kajol, when she pounced on the offer to play the heroine in 3 Idiots. However, she almost starred in Hrithik Roshan’s debut film Kaho Na Pyar Hai but walked off the sets after shooting for a few days. Ameesha Patel was called in to play the role and well, the rest is history!
4. Katrina Kaif
Kat seems to have made it into the world of showbiz more due to her beautiful face and dancing skills, rather than her acting prowess. Hence, the fact that she made bad career choices is not surprising at all. Katrina rejected the role of Naina Talwar in Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, which went to Deepika Padukone. The latter won loads of praise for her portrayal of Naina and Kat opted for Race 3. Race 3 did well at the box office but Katrina’s role was not meaty enough.
5. Kareena Kapoor again
Sorry, we just couldn’t miss this one out. Kareena Kapoor also rejected the movie Black which went to Rani Mukherjee. Rani went on to give one brilliant performance, which earned her immense laurels. We’re quit sure Kareena must have winced later on!
6. Kangana Ranaut
Kangana is one of the most renowned Bollywood actresses, who has made brilliant decisions when selecting movies. Yes, The Dirty Picture was first offered to her and she rejected it, saying it was too bold. Vidya stepped up and swept everyone off of their feet!
7. Shah Rukh Khan
He might be the King of Bollywood, but SRK has been known to make big mistakes every now and then. He rejected Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. which then went to Sanjay Dutt. Perhaps it was the best, since Dutt’s hilarious acting spawned a sequel to the movie and its dialogues continue to be a riot with the masses!
8. Saif Ali Khan
Yes, Saif also could have said yes to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge but he did not. The project eventually went to Shah Rukh Khan.
9. Ranbir Kapoor
The Kapoor scion lost out on a huge hit when he refused to star opposite Anushka Sharma in Band Baaja Baraat which then went to Ranveer Singh. The movie became Ranveer’s launching pad into Bollywood and the star hasn’t looked back ever since!
10. Shahid Kapoor
Shahid Kapoor has established and made a name for himself in Bollywood. However, he refused Rajneeti, which went on to Ranbir Kapoor. Shahid felt that the ensemble cast of Rajneeti would overshadow him. The movie regardless, managed to do well at the box office.
