RAJANPUR: An explosion in Karachi bound Khushhal Khan Express near Rajanpur derailed the train resulting in death of three persons, while more that 50 persons were injured in the incident, ARY News reported on Friday. 

The train was travelling to Karachi from Peshawar, when a bomb exploded in the train causing derailment of its bogies at Kotla Hassan Shah near Rajanpur in southern Punjab, in which at least three persons were killed and over 50 were injured, rescue officials said. 

"The bomb was kept in the first bogey of the train," General Manager Railways Anjum Pervez told ARY News. 

The train  said to be running at 60-70km per hour from Peshawar to Karachi when the explosion occurred, sources said. Rescue teams reached the scene and the dead and injured were taken to hospital.

Railway traffic on the track has been suspended after the terrorism incident and repair of the damaged tracks will take at least 24 hours, railway sources said. 

Federal Minister for Railways Khwaja Saad Rafique has summoned report of Khushhal Khan Express incident.
