Boy ‘attacked by knife attacker’ was lying to take leave of absence from work

KARACHI: A boy who claimed to have been attacked by a mystery knife attacker attacking women in Karachi was lying to take leave from work, ARY News reported on Monday.

The boy named Noman claimed on Sunday that the notorious knife attacker had attacked him prompting police to take him into custody.

The boy, in a video statement, said that he wanted to take a leave from work on Sunday so he cut himself with a blade and claimed that he has been attacked by the mystery attacker roaming Karachi’s streets.

The serial knife attacker has attacked at least 15 women in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and adjoining areas of Karachi instilling fear among women of the city.

Last Saturday, police released pictures of the knife attacker. A prize money of Rs0.5 million was also announced for anyone who comes up with any information regarding the attacker.

The pictures taken from a CCTV footage show a biker wearing a helmet and attacking random women. Police say the suspect is about 20 to 29 years old and his height ranges from 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inch.
