The German boy is being hailed as a hero by the authorities for resuscitating his two-year-old brother after he fell into a garden swimming pool.
The grandmother who looks after the boys at her home in Korbach, went to find a nappy in bathroom, when the younger boy Rudolf went into the garden and fell in the water.
Rudolf had stopped breathing when his brother, Markus, pulled him from the pool.
Markus talked to paramedics on phone because his grandmother is not good at German as she speaks Russian. He followed first-aid instructions and revived his brother.
Markus had his brother’s breathing restored before rescue officials reached. Rudolf was later given full hospital treatment.
