British High Commission delegation calls on Punjab minister Samsam Bukhari

LAHORE: A British High Commission delegation called on Punjab minister for Information and Culture Syed Samsam Ali Bukhari to discuss the prospects of enhanced collaboration between two countries in the sectors of health and education, ARY News reported.

The delegation consisted of new incumbent first secretary (political) of UK High Commission, Mr Stephen Hill, outgoing officer Mr Tom D. Fanblanque, and Policy Officer Mohammad Saad.

The minister apprised the three-member delegation about the initiatives taken by the Punjab government and both the sectors.

Bukhari said that no country could progress without introducing reforms in these sectors, and therefore, the present regime was focused on investing in material and human resources in health and education.

The minister lauded the Department for International Development (DFID) UK, for its efforts and contributions in the field of education. The minister said that the government was looking forward to furthering the cooperation with the government of the UK in the education sector.

British delegation appreciated current government’s reform measures in education and health sectors. It said that the Pakistani society was witnessing a ‘positive and clear change’ due to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s result-oriented measures.

Later, while responding to the various question of media regarding the bail of Nawaz Sharif Bukhari made it clear that the imprisonment of Nawaz Sharif had only been suspended for six weeks, but he won’t be able to travel abroad for his treatment.

He said that the PTI government attached honoured the verdicts of courts always and it did the same for today’s verdict.
