QUETTA: The by-election for PB-7 Ziarat of the Balochistan Assembly has commenced on Sunday, ARY News reported.
The polls will be conducted without any interval till 5 pm. According to the district returning officer (DRO) of Ziarat, eight candidates are vying for the constituency in Sanjwani in district Ziarat.
The seat fell vacant after the death of Jamiat-Ulema Islam (JUI-F) candidate Gul Muhammad Domar. There are 59 polling stations set in the constituency, while 21 have been considered sensitive.
The main contest is expected between JUI-F, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The total number of registered voters is 59,728 including 32,395 men and 27,333 women. Two thousand security officers have also been deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
