158 candidates file papers for by-polls in KP

PESHAWAR: More than 150 assembly aspirants have filed their nomination papers for by-elections on one National Assembly seat and nine seats of the provincial assembly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Spokesperson of the Election Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Ahmed on Saturday said that 14 candidates have submitted their nomination papers for one National Assembly seat, NA-53, Bannu.

Similarly, 144 candidates have submitted nomination papers for nine vacant seats of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

The seats where by-elections are to be conducted in the province are PK-3 Swat, PK-7 Swat, PK-44 Swabi, PK-53 Mardan, PK-61 and PK-64 Nowshera, PK-78 Peshawar, PK-97 and PK-99 Dera Ismail Khan.

The by-elections on the vacant seats will be held on October 14.
