KARACHI: Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Fazul-ur-Rehman on Wednesday said that International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) has transformed into an iconic event for cutting-edge technology demonstrations as well as forum of shared knowledge and expertise in Pakistan.
The chief minister was presiding over the second steering committee meeting of IDEAS 2018 to overview the preparations for the strategically important event. The meeting was attended by representatives from federal ministries, various departments of government of Sindh, armed forces, law enforcement agencies and media.
CM Sindh said the event is globally recognised and participation truly reflects the deeply embedded and mutually beneficial relations with the international fraternity.
“IDEAS is a shared platform for global peace, stability and prosperity besides participation of large number of foreign delegates, national and international defence manufacturers. It also serves as global assignation for sharing of common views on contemporary defence and security issues,” he said.
He also said that IDEAS 2018 would further accelerate the commercial exchange between delegates, trade visitors, defence officials and OEMs from within Pakistan and abroad.
He said that hosting this 10th edition is indeed testimony to our pledge for encouraging technological growth and exchange in the region.
“The event will significantly contribute towards fostering and promoting Pakistan’s strategic relations with international fraternity and would serve to achieve the shared objectives of global peace, stability and balance,”
“This edition of IDEAS will also pave the way for fostering and promoting Pakistan’s strategic relations with international partners,” he said.
He added the successful hosting of IDEAS since year 2000 was due to complete support by various government departments, armed Force, LEAs, public and private defence industry, trade bodies and largely the people of Karachi.
Director General DEPO Maj General Ahmad Mahmood Hayat highlighted that event as per its traditions would host number of activities encompassing world’s cutting edge defence technology demonstrations, international seminar, land, maritime and aviation conferences, Pakistan army and forces capability display, cultural show and business expansions through well-planned engagements.
In addition, Karachi Show will exclusively be arranged for the people of Karachi at Nishan-e-Pakistan at Sea View on 29 November 2018. During the meeting, all government organisations and departments pledged their full support for successful accomplishment of IDEAS 2018.
IDEAS is a mega national event biennially organised by Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO) in Pakistan. Since its inception in the year 2000, IDEAS has emerged as an international rendezvous of defence manufacturers, entrepreneurs, financial experts, and top-level policy makers to promote cooperation, knowledge sharing and support ventures in the field of defence collaboration.
The event brings together the national and international defence industry for synergistic businesses and cooperation. The 10th edition of IDEAS 2018 is scheduled from 27-30 November 2018 at Karachi Expo Centre.
