Ceasefire no prerequisite for talks, says Shahidullah Shahid
PESHAWAR: The spokesperson of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Shahidullah Shahid has said that a meeting of TTP's political shuraa is soon expected regarding the ceasefire announced with the Government of Pakistan – ARY News reports.
According to details, Shahidullah Shahid said that the announced period of a truce with the Government, has ended and to extend which a meeting of the banned organization’s political shuraa is soon expected.
He further stated that a ceasefire is not a prerequisite for negotiations between the Government of Pakistan and Taliban, talks can also be continued without it.
Earlier on March 1, TTP had announced an unconditional ceasefire with the Government for a month's period, as per the decision made by the supreme council of Taliban.
The announcement of a truce had ended the deadlock in peace talks, which had occurred due to the killing of 23 FC troops at the hands of TTP members from the Mohmand Agency faction.
