The match has already become the talk of the town in India, where people religiously follow the sport, and Pakistan where national game hockey is completely eclipsed by the growing following of cricket.

Many former cricket greats including 1992 World Cup star for Pakistan Imran Khan, Inzamamul Haq, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis (incumbent Pakistan team headcoach), legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavasker, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag will grace the occasion with their special guest appearance.

The versatile Bollywood actor and inconic figure Amitabh Bachhan will also mark his presence and sing India’s national anthem before the match. While Shafqat Amanat Ali will sing national anthem of Pakistan.

The iconic stadium is expected to be filled to the brim during the much-awaited game between the arch rivals.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) said “We plan to felicitate four legends each from India and Pakistan. We will be giving them mementoes at around 6 in the evening just before the start of the game,” reported the Indian media.

Besides, the historic venue which is set to host the high-voltage clash, has a capacity of 65,000 presently which is around 35,000 less than what is used to be six years back. But still the crowd strength is enough to take the roof with their screams.

Outside the nearby Mohammedan tent from where the tickets for international matches are usually sold, a giant yellow banner has been fixed which says: “No tickets will be sold from the counter.”

 

The tickets are priced at Rs.1,500, Rs.1,000 and Rs.500.

In addition, the online distribution, tickets were given to each of the 121 CAB affiliate units. There were also an undisclosed number of complimentaries.
