Chairman PEMRA Chaudhry Abdur Rasheed removed from his post

ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Chaudhry Abdur Rasheed has been relieved from his responsibilities – ARY News reports.

According to details, his dismissal came upon the advice by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, which was approved by the President Mamnoon Hussain.

Sources told that the summary of his removal stated that the appointment of Chairman PEMRA was not made in accordance with the directives of the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan.

The summary was forwarded to the President from the PM House, which has been signed by the President Mamnoon Hussain.

Moreover, senior anchorperson of ARY News Mubashir Lucman has said that the dismissal of the Chairman PEMRA came on the grounds for supporting lawful stance of the program Khara Sach for exposing illicit acts of an influential media group and its personnel.
