MUMBAI: After Almost 10 years from the release of the Shahrukh Khan starrer hit movie Chak De India. The Girls Hockey team portrayers have united once more for yet another sports-related movie.
Sagarika Ghatge, Chitrashi Rawat, and Vidya Malavade have reunited one more and have joined Milind Ukey’s upcoming Marathi film, Monsoon Football.
It has taken 11 years for this trio to re-group for another sport-centric film. Last seen in the hockey-centric Chak De! India, the girls have decided to hit the ground again, this time with a film revolving around football.
What makes the project even more interesting is that the girls will be seen playing football in saris since the narrative revolves around housewives, who wish to ‘kick’ the monotony out of their lives.
Together, the women form a football team to reclaim their identities.
Talking about the project, Vidya Malavade says,
“It feels fantastic to work again with my Chak De! co-actors. We never really moved away from each other and most of us have been in touch. This film is a great project for us to reunite. It has brought back such fond memories of the mad times we spent together and now it’s time for some more madness, both on and off the field. Also, fitness and sport are a huge part of my life. So, it’s exciting to be back on the field and I am looking forward to the training sessions.”
