No child died of famine in Thar, Umerkot, claims PPP MPA
KARACHI: Lawmakers of the PPP on Tuesday claimed that none of children died of famine in Tharparkar, ARY News reported.
They were speaking during a Sindh Assembly session here. PPP MPA Murad Ali Shah said no death occurred in Tharparkar and Umerkot due to famine. Other PPP lawmakers welcomed the statement with desk-thumping in the house.
Minority lawmaker, belonging to the PPP, Mahesh Malani said deaths could have controlled had there been facilities at the hospitals. He also said no deaths were reuslted due to famine in the district. He claimed that development work worth Rs 11 billion was carried out by the PPP in the province.
Khwaja Izharul Hasan of the MQM said speeches by the PPP MPAs implied that everything was going well in Tharparkar.
PML-F’s Jam Madad Ali said one should avoid misinterpretation of facts.
