China, Pakistan vow to carry forward momentum of bilateral ties

BEIJING: Chairman of National People’s Congress Li Zhanshu held a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan in Beijing on Saturday during which they both agreed to carry forward the momentum of bilateral visits and enhance parliamentary linkages. 

Both leaders noted that parliamentary exchanges between the two sides will play a crucial role in further cementing bilateral ties. They also underscored the commitment to enhance cooperation in political, cultural, educational and people to people ties.

The prime minister appreciated the crucial role of CPEC in Pakistan’s economic growth and prosperity. He highlighted the government’s focus on socio-economic development and livelihood projects.

He expressed the hope that development of special economic zones and industrial cooperation would bring new opportunities for the peoples of the two countries.

Li Zhanshu reaffirmed China’s commitment to relations with Pakistan and said China will continue to stand by Pakistan at all times.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that socio-economic uplift, industrial development, establishing Special Economic Zones and livelihood projects are his priority areas under CPEC.

He was talking to Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan in Beijing on Saturday.

The prime minister invited Chinese business leaders to relocate labour-intensive industry into Pakistan. He reiterated Pakistan’s principled support for promoting open market policies.

The two leaders agreed to continue furthering cooperation on issues of regional and global significance.

Chairman of China Railways Construction Company also called on the prime minister in Beijing.
