China reiterates to encourage enterprises to invest in Pakistan
BEIJING: China has reiterated to Chinese enterprises to invest and open up business in Pakistan and forge mutually beneficial cooperation.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang at a regular news briefing on Wednesday said that China is committed to promote trade and investment cooperation with Pakistan.
“China attaches great importance to its all-weather strategic cooperative partnership with Pakistan and stays committed to increasing its trade and investment cooperation with country,” he said.
In recent years, Chinese direct investment in the country has been increasing at a fast pace due to the concerted efforts of both sides. He said China is pleased that this has driven up bilateral practical cooperation and the economic and social development of country.
The spokesman expressed the confidence that with advancement of the construction of CPEC, China’s investment will grow bigger in the country.
The spokesman was asked about the recent data from State Bank of Pakistan released last week that showed that Chinese were among the top countries with $1.18bn foreign direct investment in fiscal year 2016-17.
