China reiterates support to Pakistan for regional peace, stability

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou has reiterated his country’s support to Pakistan for peace and stability in the region, ARY News reported on Thursday.

This he said during his interaction with Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Kong Xuanyou expressed the commitment to further enhance bilateral cooperation and coordination with Pakistan at all levels.

During these meetings, Pakistan thanked China for its steadfast support and briefed Xuanyou on Pakistan’s efforts to deescalating the situation.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister underscored that Pakistan and China are close friends and reiterated China’s support to Pakistan for peace and stability in the region.

Earlier in the day, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor  said that it was up to India to reciprocate Pakistan’s peace gestures or escalate tensions between the two nuclear powers.

“We feel that now the ball is in the Indian court. Should they decide to escalate, the situation will go bad,” he said in an interview with CNN.

DG ISPR said the two neighbouring countries were close to war after the ingress by Indian warplanes into Pakistan.
