No civilians killed in last year's drone strikes in Pakistan: UN report

NEW YORK: United Nations (UN) special report on drone attacks has mentioned that last year no civilians were killed in drone strikes in Pakistan, whereas an increase was observed in death toll of civilians in Afghanistan – ARY News reports.

The UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights, Ben Emmerson while presenting the report, told that no civilian was killed in 27 drone strikes that took place in the tribal areas of Pakistan last year, whilst the toll of deaths has increased in Afghanistan. He stated that 45 innocent people were killed in Afghanistan during the last year's drone attacks.

He continued further, saying that the US spy planes claimed more than 500 innocent lives in Yemen, since 2009 to this day.

The United Nations (UN) has declared the US drone attacks as the violation of international laws.

US after the killings of innocent citizens has reduced these attacks considerably, however the strikes are still ongoing.
