CJP takes notice of chopping off teenage servant’s hand in Sheikhupura

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken notice of chopping off hand of a domestic servant in Sheikhupura.

The notice was taken on media reports that a female employer allegedly cut the right hand of 13-year-old domestic servant with a fodder machine.

Taking notice of the matter,  Chief Justice of Pakistan has called report from Inspector General Punjab within 48 hours.

A 13-year-old boy Irfan s/o Falaksher was working in the house of Shafqat Bibi, in Safdarabad Area (District Sheikhupura). Allegedly, the employers have cut off right hand of the boy with a fodder cutting machine over some minor issue.

It is pertinent to note here that earlier Federal Secretary, Ministry of Human Rights, Rabiya Javeri Agha, too had taken serious notice of the tragic incident.

Rabiya Javeri Agha, has asked the National Commission for Human Rights to conduct a fact finding inquiry into the incident and to furnish a detailed report to the Ministry on priority.

During a meeting, the Secretary said that the Ministry of Human Rights is taking various measures to address the increasing violence against children in the country, which include the National Commission on the Rights of the Child Bill and The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Child Protection Bill, 2016.

She highlighted that a Public Awareness Campaign on Human Rights, with special focus on the Rights of Children and Women has been initiated under the Action Plan for Human Rights, approved by the Prime Minister of Pakistan on 13th February, 2016. She also shared that National Commission for Human Rights and Human Rights Toll Free Helpline (1099) are effectively addressing the human rights violation issues, mainly the violence against Children and Women.
