ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday echoed the quick deliverance of justice, as he said, the onus is on judiciary to ensure implementation of laws and provision of justice to the masses.

Addressing a seminar on the National Judicial Policymaking Committee (NJPC) here, the CJP emphasized quick justice and reinforcement of fundamental rights to citizens granted by the constitution.

“We are the highest-paid government servants and it should be our prime duty to ensure provision of justice,” he said while enumerating the virtues of judges.

Conceding the problems faced by judges, Justice Nisar urged them to overlook those problems and continue their duties. He noted that the judicial activism cannot be done without passion. “You can’t work with passion for merely acting as adjudicators over salaries,” he underlined.

He said he has seen many passionate judges rendering services in unfavourable conditions, while recalling an incident of past when a Canadian Chief Justice resigned from his post after observing that his passion was left behind and his work seemed mere an ordinary office job.

On the occasion, he called upon the community of judges to join his campaign for delivering quick justice and resolving the basic civic-issues with passion.

He said the prime responsibility of judiciary is to uphold sanctity of the law passed by the parliament, adding, the constitution is the supreme document of any country.

He also stressed for collaborative efforts along with other institutions of the country for future social prosperity and integrity.
