CLT20: Perth Scorchers knock Lahore Lions out

TOP NEWS

Lahore Lions, who were asked to bat first, lost four early wickets at the score of 11 after 3.4 overs in a must win contest.

Middle order batsman Saad Nasim made 69 off 55 balls allowing Lahore Lions to score respectable 124.

Umar Akmal and Mohammad Saeed played a supportive role scoring 26 and 20 runs respectively.

In order to qualify for the semi-finals Lions needed to hold the Scorchers to 78. Keeping in view Lions’ skipper Mohammad Hafeez employed Test-match fields from the very first over. It worked for Lions as they restricted Scorchers to 64 for 7.

The momentum set by Lions shattered when Brad Hogg scored 14 runs in the 14th over, bowled by Adnan Rasool and shut the doors on Lions and let Chennai Super Kings through to the knockouts.

The stand-in skipper of Perth Scorchers, Mitchell Marsh scoring unbeaten 78 brings them home with an over to spare.
