QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal on Tuesday demanded formation of a Supreme Court Commission to probe spending of development budget of the province in the last 20 years, ARY News reported.
During a press briefing here, Kamal said those involved in embezzling development budget should be punished. “We hail the Balochistan High Court for taking suo motu notice on Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) funds”. He said the case hearing was due on March 18 at the BHC and the provincial government would file a comprehensive reply in this regard.
The chief minister said punishment for corrupt practices of the previous governments should not be given to the present government. Kamal said the incumbent government had itself initiated the accountability process. He underlined that his provincial government was primarily working on reforms.

He called for including road network and energy projects in the PSDP as well. He said improvement in education and health sectors was not possible without uplifting road networks.
The CM said the provincial government had already released Rs 28 billion for development projects.
On March 2, Jam Kamal had directed to convert government-owned buildings into shelter house for facilitating affectees of disastrous rain and snowfall.
The CM had issued special directives to provincial authorities to ensure the provision of support to locals in the calamity-affected parts.
