KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presiding over a meeting on Thursday to review arrangements for upcoming Pakistan-West Indies cricket matches directed concerned authorities to make foolproof security measures.

The chief minister congratulated all the participants of the meeting, including Director General Rangers Major General Mohammad Saeed, Inspector General Police AD Khowaja, and other concerned institutions and officers on successful holding the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

“It was the success of each and every one of you – we all have proved that we can hold the best events in this city and anywhere in the province,” he said adding that it was the success of Pakistan.

The chief minister said that PSL arrangements were excellent, but it was necessary to improve them further so that spectators could be saved from long queues.

On the recommendation of DG Rangers, the chief minister assigned different tasks. DIG South was made in-charge of hotel security, DIG Traffic in-charge of traffic routes, while DC East was made in-charge of parking arrangements.

It was decided that drinking water arrangements should be made in abundance, and the Pakistan Cricket Board was urged to make arrangement of more food stalls.

CM Sindh also instructed that necessary arrangements be made to facilitate students to reach their examination centers as matric examinations are also commencing soon.

“Due to three days matches some roads may be closed but this closure at any cost should not affect the examination process,” he said.

The meeting was told parking stickers have been made separately for different days. The colour schemes would be different for each day and the stickers would also indicate the parking place. The chief minister urged to issue minimum number of VVIP stickers to discourage privileged culture.

The participants appreciated the CM Sindh for taking personal interest in the PSL match, and making it a historic event.

The chief minister said that this is the success of people of Sindh and Pakistan that international cricket has returned. He directed Minister Local Government to coordinate with Mayor Karachi to get the city decorated with photos of cricketers.
