CWG 2014: Waseem lost to Australian opponent

GLASGOW: Pakistan’s dream of attaining a gold medal at Common Wealth Games (CWG) 2014 ends today with the defeat of national boxer Mohammad Wasim from Australian opponent Andrew Moloney, ARY News reported.

Fans witnessed a close competition in final of 52 Kilogram flyweight boxing. The Pakistani boxer having edge over Australian competitor in the first two rounds but wasn’t able to maintained the momentum in the final round, resulting defeat and claimed silver medal.

Following Wasim’s defeat Pakistan claimed second silver medal while having four medals overall in CWG 2014.

The 27-year old, who learned boxing in a small club situated near his house, has previously won 9 medals in different international events, which include 4 gold medals, while he also secured bronze medal in CWG 2010 held in India.
