RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa will meet tribal elders and area representatives of Turbat and Gwadar during his two-day visit to Balochistan, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement issued on Sunday.

The army chief will also be briefed about security situation in Turbat and Gwadar, two districts of Makran belt, the ISPR said in the statement.

During his stay, General Bajwa will also inspect the Khushhal Balochistan project.

The uplift project was launched late 2017 that aims to endure stability through social-economic development and security.

This was the second uplift package unveiled for the province within a year as Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had earlier announced a 10-year development scheme.

Shedding light on the scheme, the premier then said the ten-year package for Balochistan included provision of natural gas, electricity, and water to the inhabitants.

Earlier in September 2017, the army chief had said Pakistan Army would continue assisting in the security and development of Balochistan, besides timely completion of uplift projects in the province.

“The armed forces are fulfilling their responsibilities in far-flung areas, which is commendable. We will keep rendering our duties with vigour and zeal,” said General Qamar on the second day of Eid ul Azha which he spent in Turbat and Gwadar areas of Balochistan.
