According to Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Asim Bajwa, she was undergoing treatment at Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC).
She had two daughters and three sons. Her eldest son Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed was awarded Nishan-e-Haider and Sitara-e-Jurat whereas her youngest son General Raheel Sharif is serving as Pakistan’s current Chief of Army Staff.
Her funeral prayers will be offered at Chaklala Garrison after Zuhr prayers and will be laid to rest at Cavalry Ground in Lahore.
