According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Nicholson called on the COAS at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. They also discussed matters of mutual interest including coordination mechanism along Pakistan-Afghanistan border and the security situation in Afghanistan.
The visiting dignitary acknowledged the far-reaching effects of operation Zarb-e-Azb and lauded the role of Pakistan Army for bringing peace and stability in the region.
Earlier on Monday, General Joseph L. Votel, incoming commander United States Central Command (US CENTCOM) also called on General Raheel Sharif and discussed matters of professional interests with special emphasis on situation in Afghanistan.
