LAHORE: Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan on Friday said that all the commercial drivers i will have to go through proper schooling and training to drive commercial vehicles in the province.
Presiding over a special meeting, Aleem Khan said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government wants rickshaw and bus drivers to go through schooling and professional training in order to reduce road accidents.
He said that most of the traffic accidents take place due to the negligence of the drivers who either over speed or ignore the traffic signals. He added that imposition of regulations regarding wearing seat belts and helmets have given fruitful results so the time has come to train commercial drivers.
He warned that drivers not taking part in training can lose their driving licenses.
Moreover, in another meeting Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan was briefed by foreign companies on the solid waste management where different proposals were discussed for in time collection of waste and production of different stuff out of solid waste.
The senior minister said that civic institutions should come up to the standard of the developed ones and it is vital that every day waste should be collected from each area within stipulated time.
Abdul Aleem Khan lamented that the past regime only focused its attention on corruption and companies were established just to embezzle taxpayers money.
He assured that present government would take practical steps in all the cities for waste management and no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.
