The government of Pakistan had written a letter to the Supreme Court’s registrar on Friday to form a commission to inquire into the Panama Papers scandal.

The letter called for the Chief Justice of Pakistan to head a judicial commission on priority basis which will probe the Panama leaks controversy.

The terms of reference (TOR) of the letter state that the commission will investigate former and current holders of public office. The terms also stated that all provincial and federal institutions will be bound to cooperate with the commission. It is also stated that the commission would receive documents on affidavits and with regard to the person who is submitting the documents, can even establish a commission for cross-examination of the person.

It was also stated that the commission can start its probe within the allotted time and can also issue recommendations in this regard.
