RAWALPINDI: Former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday said his constituency should be compared with the constituencies of former chief minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, former president Asif Zardari and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan for its importance, ARY News reported.

“You can compare my constituency with any constituency of the country for I am contesting elections from four constituencies only on the basis of masses’ support,” he said while addressing a public meeting in Rawalpindi.

He said it was easier to make speeches and tall claims, but difficult to work in the field.

The disgruntled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, who was not issued party ticket for contesting elections, said he was from among those people who would sacrifice anything for friends. However, he said, neither he ever had requested for a ticket, nor he could stand behind someone with his hands folded.

Earlier in a public gathering in his constituency, Nisar said that he was not a traditional politician, and the respect was earned not through holding office, but rather by serving the people.

He said that he had a deep connection with the people of the area and had always served them whenever he was given the opportunity.

The former minister had also said he still did not want any confrontation with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

“I still do not want confrontation with Nawaz Sharif, however he does not have any regard for his own respect. I can no longer tolerate one-sided criticism. Nawaz is now using pawns for blame games against me.”
