LAHORE: Calling Maulana Fazlur Rehman an opportunist, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Central Information Secretary Shafqat Mahmood on Sunday said the ruling party is taking fright at situation arising from Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT)’s report submission as the Supreme Court is about to give its final verdict in the case, ARY News reported.

He was addressing a press conference in Lahore when he came down hard on Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N)’s leadership for iterating Panamagate case as global conspiracy without confuting it.

He said that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed on the sale agreement of Gulf Steel Mills, but now he has refused to admit to what he did.

“The money trail of Sharif family is connected to the Gulf Steel Mills as UAE [United Arab Emirates] government has asserted to have no records pertaining to the company’s dealings,” Mahmood remarked.

Inquiring about financial transactions carried out through various accounts, he said for the ruling party leadership each fact and figure is a conspiracy. “It has been proven that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was the marketing manager of FZE Company on a salary of DHR 10,000 but now they [Sharif family and PML-N] claim he was chairperson and manager while taking no salary,” he added.

He further said that it has also been proven that Neilsen Company belonged to Maryam Nawaz. “The masses elected Nawaz to rule the country, not to cook up illicit means of money making,” he added.
