Constable awarded death sentence in SHO murder case

KARACHI: The Anti-terrorism Court on Monday handed down a death sentence to an accused charged with murdering a station house officer (SHO) Preedy in April 2013, ARY News reported.

The ATC announced the verdict after charges against the accused, constable Nazakat Ali, were proved and also imposed on him a fine of Rs 0.5 million.

Constable Nazakat Ali was a personal guard of the then SHO Preedy Agha Asadullah. He killed the SHO when he was travelling with him in a private car near Saddar in early April, 2013.

The Judge Saleem Raza Baloch of the ATC-III had reserved his judgement after recording the evidence of witnesses from both the sides on March 19.

A case was registered under Sections 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-terrorism Act.
