Constitution or Shariah; another debate to sweep away nation

LAHORE: Ameer Jamat e Islami (JI), Syed Munawwar Hassan has said that the demand of imposing Shairah is neither new nor unconstitutional, whereas Liaquat Baloch said that an Islamic constitution is already imposed here in Pakistan – ARY News reports.

According to details, the statement of Laal Masjid Khateeb, Molana Abdul Aziz regarding the imposition of Shariah, has given rise to a new debate in the country.

JI Ameer, Munawwar Hassan has said that the demand is nothing new, for the constitution of Pakistan accepts the Holy Quran and Sunnah as the supreme law of the state, whereas the JI secretary general, Liaquat Baloch has said that an Islamic constitution is already in effect in Pakistan.

Administrator of Jamia Binoria, Mufti Naeem has declared Molana Abdul Aziz demand of imposing Shariah as justified, yet he added that it is not the right time for such demands.
