Earlier on Wednesday today, the Director General (DG) Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar had indirectly warned the political party to consider the possible consequences if they tried to forcefully bring the life in the city to a halt in the name of a peaceful protest.

“We will provide complete security to transporters and unruly elements who tried to disrupt the business activities of Karachi will not be spared,” said DG Rangers.

MQM Coordination Committee in its recent statement, while condemning DG Rangers statement against MQM’s plea for a peaceful strike call said, “MQM has exercised its democratic right by appealing for a peaceful strike against Rangers’ illegal and inhumane practices.”

“DG Rangers statement against MQM’s appeal for a peaceful strike is condemnable,” the statement said.

MQM had announced to observe a ‘protest day’ across the Sindh province today against a reported ‘misconduct of Rangers personnel’ and the cordoning off the residence of Farooq Sattar during a search operation in the PIB area of Karachi on Tuesday.

MQM’s Coordination Committee requested people to keep their businesses and transport closed across the Sindh province on June 8.

The DG Rangers had already clarified that the paramilitary force did not raid the house of Farooq Sattar on Tuesday but they did, however, conducted a search operation in the PIB Colony over a tip-off regarding the presence of some criminal elements.
