Talk about spoiling a birthday bash!

Salman Khan’s sister Arpita Khan was busy celebrating her birthday late Saturday night at her Pali Hill home, when police officers raided the party place. Apparently, the cops had received complaints of loud music from Arpita’s neighbours and had arrived to resolve the problem. According to reports from various sources, several Bollywood celebrities were also present on the occasion and having a ball at the party.

The officers at Khar police station received alerts from the Mumbai police control room regarding numerous complaints via phone calls from Arpita Khan’s neighbours from residents of Pacific Heights at Pali Hill. Pali Hill falls under the jurisdiction of Khar police station. A police team was dispatched from Khar police station to Arpita Khan’s house to tell her to turn off the music.

An officer from the Khar police station revealed,”The organiser of the party (Santosh Mane, 34), who brought the music system, was told to pay a fine of Rs 12,500 and the music system was seized.”

The music system was however, returned to Mane after he paid the due fine of Rs. 12,500. Mane was charged with Section 33 (r) (3) of the Maharashtra Police Act, which deals with loudspeaker use. A local area crime (LAC) was also registered at Khar police station. The police said he would have to appear before a metropolitan court.

The police allow music to be played in residential areas and public places from 6am to 10am; the decibel level permitted depends on the area, according to the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000.

Looks like Bollywood stars, or their siblings for that matter, do carried away during parties. However, a little disciplining every now and then by the law enforcement personnel, keeps things in order!
