ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Wednesday resumed hearing into Flagship Reference against former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif.

Elder Sharif was present in the court of Judge, Arshad Malik, who is hearing Flagship and Al Azizia references against him [Nawaz].

The reference has entered in decisive phase after prosecution witness, the Panama JIT Head, Wajid Zia, completed his testimony in the reference. The court has already closed evidence in the Al-Azizia reference and in the next stage former premier will come to record his statement under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code after which the prosecution as well as the defence counsel will begin their final arguments.

The defence counsel and the prosecutors hope that the proceedings in both Al-Azizia and Flagship Investment references would be wrapped up before the Supreme Court’s deadline of Nov 17.

On Tuesday’s hearing, former minister of PML-N, Daniyal Aziz was asked to leave the courtroom by the Judge, Arshad Malik for shaking hands during ongoing hearing of the reference

Daniyal Aziz entered the courtroom when Nawaz Sharif’s Flagship case hearing was underway and upon seeing members of the party, he started shaking hands with them.

Upon seeing this, the AC Judge annoyed and warned Daniyal Aziz that he can’t be this casual in a courtroom shaking hands with everyone separately.

Nawaz’s Lawyer excused for this act of Daniyal Aziz by saying that Mr. Aziz was unaware that the court session was underway.

To which, AC Judge responded that how can a man who has been on such high designations in past be this careless.

Later, Judge Arshad Malik called upon SP Security which escorted Aziz out of the courtroom over orders of the judge.

During the hearing on Monday, Nawaz Sharif didn’t turn up for an unexplained reason and his statement pertaining to Al-Azizia Steel Mill case could not be recorded.
