KARACHI: Additional District and Session Judge South on Wednesday urged the prosecution to submit its arguments against the bail plea of Dr. Riaz Ahmed, who teaches in University of Karachi (UoK), during a hearing session, ARY News reported.
The court adjourned the case hearing till tomorrow (Thursday).
Earlier, the court accepted the bail-plea for hearing.
During the court proceeding today, the additional and session judge after hearing the arguments of the defence lawyer summoned arguments from the public prosecutor and directed the investigation officer to produce a charge-sheet against the accused.
Professor Dr. Riaz Ahmed is a Cambridge University PHD and currently teaching at the University of Karachi’s Applied Chemistry department.

He was detained by the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) along with a retired professor and his colleague Dr Mehr Afroz Murad outside Karachi Press Club (KPC) moments before a press conference about release of Dr. Hassan Zafar Arif.
Initially, it was reported that the two teachers were detained on allegations of being in contact with the leadership of Muttahida Qaumi Movement- London (MQM-L). However, a case under illegal arms act has been lodged against Dr. Riaz Ahmed.
