ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court of Islamabad on Tuesday dismissed the plea seeking ownership and release of a vehicle in police custody, ARY News reported.

Two months ago, Margalla police had taken two culprits, Adeel and Arsalan, and a vehicle into custody upon receiving a complaint on hotline 15 about a vehicle theft, the court was relayed.

District and sessions court judge Sohail Nasir was hearing the case.

Plaintiff Hasnain Rafaqat said his father had bought the vehicle from a bank in 2017 on lease and had given on rent.

Hasnain Rafaqat said they had filed no case as his father had died. He said a lower court had ruled in favour of handing him over the vehicle.

Respondent Tahir Mehmood said since he was owner of the vehicle, therefore the court should overturn the lower court’s judgement.

The district and sessions court dismissed Hasnain Rafaqat’s plea on the basis of lawyers’ arguments and evidence. The court said nobody filed a plea on change of ownership of the vehicle and death of father.

It ordered the SHO police to hand the vehicle to Tahir Mehmood following completion of legal formalities.
