Court sends 13 IJT workers on 2 days police remand

LAHORE: A local court handed over 13 workers of Islami Jamiat Tulaba (IJT) to police on two days physical remand, who were arrested yesterday during clashes with police – ARY News reports.

IJT workers of Punjab University staged a protest demonstration yesterday demanding the release of their fellows, who were arrested a few days ago. The police charged baton on the protestors and arrested 13 more students after clashes.

These arrested students were presented before the duty magistrate at Model Town district court, Miss Misbah, where the police requested the court for eight days physical remand of the accused.

The magistrate, however handed over the students accused of violence and theft, on two days remand to police.

The counsel of the arrested students said that the concerned Superintendent Police (SP) is spreading religious strife through unjust arrests and the students are innocent.
