CTD police arrest suspect planning to attack Shehbaz Sharif
LAHORE: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police on Monday arrested a suspect designing to execute a suicide attack on Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, ARY News reported.
The suspect was arrested from Model Colony of Defence area in Lahore. Maps, weapons and extremist literature were also recovered from his possession.
Sources said the suspect was planning to target Shehbaz Sharif.
He has been shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation so that his other accomplices could also be nabbed, sources said.
Identity of the suspect is kept confidential, until the investigation is completed, in a bid to crack nexus of the terrorists.
While, ARY News correspondent Arif Hameed Bhatti has claimed that two suspects laced with heavy explosive material were arrested from the gathering which was being addressed by Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz post-NA-120 by-election victory in Lahore.
“In the same gathering where she was maligning the intelligence agencies, they saved her life,” he said.
