ISLAMABAD: Accusing his political rival of misleading the nation over ECP’s dismissal of references against him, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Daniyal Aziz on Thursday said that Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen opted for the same tactics they accuse others of opting to get rid of such cases, ARY News reported.
“They have this habit to act like Chalaku Maasi (clever aunt), they lie and try to blame others but when they are caught lying, they say that we have exposed our rival,” said Daniyal Aziz.
Earlier in the day, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) dismissed disqualification references against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen.
He maintained that Imran Khan was giving impression that he was vindicated after a fair trial but that is not the case here and he is misleading the nation.
“He (Imran Khan) has criticised almost all political parties in the past for raising the issue of maintainability in such cases but today he did the same, not only him but also Jahangir Tareen,” said Aziz.
The references had been filed with National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq by PML-N lawmakers in August. The reference against PTI chief Imran Khan maintained that he did not disclose his offshore company, properties and income abroad.
Another allegation against him was that he declared his Bani Gala residence as a gift from his ex-wife but record shows that he claimed to have purchased the land at a rate of Rs145,000 per kanal in 2011.
