MUMBAI: Spiritual leader of Dawoodi Bohra community Syedna Mohammad Burhanuddin passed away in Mumbai after suffering heart attack, ARY News reported on Friday. 

Hearing the news of the death of their spiritual leader members of Dawoodi Bohra community in Karachi assembled at their mosques to pay tribute to their revered leader. 

Bohra community has announced to close shops for three days to mourn the death of their spiritual leader. 

Security has been stepped up at the prayer places of Dawoodi Bohra community. 

The 102-year old Syedna Burhanuddin was the 52nd Dai of Dawoodi Bohra community. 

He was born in Surat town of India. His father Tahir Saifuddin became 51st Dai, 40 days before the birth of Syedna Burhanuddin. 

Syedna Burhanuddin was awarded honorary degree of the Doctor of Theology by the Aligarh University. 

He was nominated spiritual leader of Dawoodi Bohra in 1934 at the age of 19 years. 

Syedna Burhanuddin launched various charities to serve the community.
